Professor Maths returns

As part of the inevitable soon-to-be-started "which is the best county for birds" debate, I've done some sums (on the spreadsheet), and calculated (not hard!) that only two of my birds (Scaup and Goshawk) were more than 5km from my house - let alone 15km! 98% Beat that, you east of England charlatans! I might check it for 2km later...prepare to be BLOWN AWAY!

  1. 93 species <5km from home - only Golden Pheasant, Woodlark and Crossbill in addition to what I've had within 2km.

Some of my more distant stuff may well fall in the 2km radius before the year is out - off the top of my head: Shoveler, Grey Partridge, Redshank, Sand Martin, Wheatear, Crossbill and, if they return next winter to a local spot they bailed on this winter, Hawfinch. Oh and Marsh Harrier and Firecrest, with a slice of luck.
